2005
Xiamen Airport won the top prize in the ¡°Aviation in Passengers¡¯ Eyes Campaign¡± for the seventh time and was the Excellent Service Provider exclusively awarded by airlines.
On Mar 30, the second-level customs-bonded warehouse invested by XIA Air Cargo Service Co started operation. It is another key project cooperated across the Taiwan Straits after XIACT. XIA Air Cargo Service Co is jointly invested by XIAGC and four Taiwan aviation companies such as TASCO, CAL, EVA and FEA.
On Apr 25, Valuair opened its Xiamen-Singapore flight and AirAsia inaugurated the Xiamen-Bangkok route. On Oct 19, Xiamen Airport hailed Spring Airlines, the first LCC in mainland China to join the Xiamen-Shanghai route operation. Thus, a dynamic market with LCC, medium-fare airlines and traditional airlines operating at Xiamen Airport has emerged.
In order to improve the management skills and the understanding of XIAGC¡¯s strategy and corporate culture, managers from Fuzhou, Xiamen and Lonyan Airport for the first time joined the large-scale closed-door training from Jul 3.
On Aug 18, Chairman Wang Titang edged out other candidates with the highest score in the ¡°First Xiamen Top 10 Entrepreneurs Evaluation¡±.
On Oct 17, the QC group from Security Check & Guard Center of XIAGC was titled the National Excellent Quality Management Group for the fourth consecutive year by China Quality Association, with XIAGC named the Excellent Enterprise in conducting quality management group activity.
Seoul-Fuzhou charter flights targeting travelers playing golf and enjoying spa started operation with 2 flights on every Thursday and Sunday from Dec 15.
On Dec 1, there was an air emergency rescue drill held at Xiamen Airport with participation of some 680 people from 10 units and 62 vehicles.
Xiamen Airport became one of the destinations of charter flights between Taiwan Straits in China¡¯s Lunar New Year for the first time. It was the first direct flight in 57 years across the Straits. XIAGC went all out to make the operation smooth.
2005 is another Safety Year for XIAGC running three airports. The total passengers handled reached 10 million, with Xiamen 6.28 million, Fuzhou 3.39 million and Lonyan 10 thousand for the first time.
2004
On Jan 29, the master plan of Xiamen Airport was approved by CAAC, marking the new round of development Xiamen Airport will carry out.
On Mar 5, Minnan Express under the cooperation between XIAGC and Xiamen SEZ Transport Group started the air-land combination transportation service. Passengers can reach Xiamen Airport directly through Minnan Express from their hometown. The service expands the catchment area of Xiamen Airport.
Fuzhou Airport won second place in Aviation in Passengers¡¯ Eyes Campaigns in the 2-4 million passengers category launched by CAAC. This is the best result Fuzhou Airport has ever got in the national-wide service quality evaluations since its operation started.
On Mar 31, Singapore-Xiamen-Nanjing-Los Angeles freight flight was opened which is the second cross-continent flight at Xiamen Airport.
On Apr 15, XIAGC and Xiamen Telecom held a contract-signing ceremony on telecommunication cooperation. According to the contract, Xiamen Telecom would obtain the right of using the telecommunication facilities at Xiamen Airport and some assets of the equipment while upgrading XIAGC¡¯s telephone network to a virtual net.
On Apr 25, Longyan Guanzaishan Airport, the first feeder airport operated by XIAGC, was formally opened.
In May, the XIAGC¡¯s staff at Xiamen, Fuzhou and Longyan all dressed in newly-designed uniforms. The refreshing new uniforms characterize three series in style including executive suit, business suit and gabardine, showcasing the company¡¯s Cozy Airport objective.
On May 21, Philippine Cebu Pacific Airlines opened its Xiamen-Manila route and became the 11th foreign airlines operating at Xiamen Airport.
In April,the Xiamen Airport Love Fund was established. It is the company¡¯s internal organization advocated by the mass volunteers. It is aimed at encouraging mutual helping, building an effective interdependent system and developing a cozy corporate culture.
In June, Xiamen Airport released 16 new service commitments to the public for the second time after 1996 in order to be more competitive through the brand construction.
Before Oct 1, the XIAGC staff at Xiamen, Fuzhou and Longyan all got the new version of the Staff Manual to unify their behavior standards at the three airports.
On Oct 15, Longyan Guanzaishan Airport opened the second route Shanghai-Xiamen-Liancheng. It is only 30 minutes from Xiamen to Liancheng.
On Oct 21, Jia Qinlin, member of the standing committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of CPPCC, inspected Fuzhou Airport.
On Dec 16, Fuzhou Airport welcome its third millionth passenger in 2004 and fulfilled the milestone volume of 3 million passengers.
The passengers handled at Xiamen Airport reached 5.58 million in 2004 which is the first time in history to go over 5 million.
2003
On Mar 12, XIAGC signed an agreement on assets management with the State Assets Management Company of Liancheng County. The assets of Longyan Airport were transferred to XIAGC free and XIAGC would register a subsidiary in Liancheng to run the airport and its related businesses.
On Mar 28, XIAGC reconstructed the Fuzhou Changle Airport, which is the first airport acquisition by commercial operation in the Chinese Mainland.
On Apr 5, Japan Airlines opened the freight flight between Xiamen and Tokyo which is the first B747 freight flight at Xiamen Airport.
In April, in the face of the sudden outbreak of SARS, XIAGC staff bravely worked on the frontlines of the fight against SARS by measuring passengers¡¯ temperature, strengthening the sanitation supervision and doing the disinfection.
On Apr 19, China Eastern started its overnight flight at Xiamen Airport and became the first outside airlines staying overnight at Xiamen.
On May 18, Air China started its overnight flight at Xiamen Airport.
On May 22, Singapore Cargo Airlines opened the freight flight Singapore-Xiamen-Nanjing-Chicago, marking Xiamen Airport as the pilot airport to operate the fifth freedom rights first opened by CAAC. This flight is also the first cross-continent flight for Xiamen Airport and makes Xiamen the fifth city in China to fly to the US after Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
On Jul 4, Longyan Guanzaishan Airport Company was established and this is XIAGC¡¯s first try at the feeder aviation market.
On Sep 9, Xiamen Int¡¯l Airport Cargo Terminal Co.,Ltd, the first cooperative project in aviation across the Straits, was formally put into operation. All the cargo terminal business at Xiamen Airport was transferred to the new terminal, which greatly improved its capacity of cargo transporting and transferring.
To celebrate Xiamen International Airport's 20th anniversary, in November, XIAGC launched a series of activities including releasing commonwealth advertisement, organizing the Bluesky Cup photography contest, holding a working skills competition, showcasing their new uniforms, producing a TV documentary, publishing a picture album and holding a music concert and reception dinner.
On Nov 6, the China-Singapore Airport Management Academy, a JV between XIAGC and Singapore Changi Airport Enterprise PteLtd, was formally established. Singapore Transportation Minister Mr. Yao Zhaodong and CAAC director Yang Yuanyuan jointly officiated at the opening ceremony. The CSAMA is the first JV in China to be certificated on airport management training.
2002
On April 18, the Tokyo-Xiamen-Tokyo route was inaugurated by All Nippon Airways with a Boeing 767-300.
On April 1, the Office Automation Computer System formally started operation at XIAGC, marking a big step in the progress of XIAGC's IT applications.
On April 18, the Tokyo-Xiamen route was inaugurated by ANA, using a Boeing 767-300 aircraft.
On May 18, the theatrical arts program entitled "the Airport's Evening" was successfully performed at Xiamen People's Great Hall. It commemorated the 60th anniversary of Comrade Mao Zedong's speech at the art symposium at Yan'an.
In May, the Xinghai Chorus of XIAGC won third prize in the National People Singing Contest organized by the Culture Ministry of the Nation. The Chorus also represented Fujian Province at the May 22nd performance in Beijing. They showed the national audiences the XIAGC's corporate culture and spirit through their wonderful performances.
On June 2, Japan Airlines (JAL) opened the Xiamen-Tokyo route. JAL is the second Japanese airlines after ANA to serve this route.
From June 10 to 11, a Security Inspection Team from the State Council did an assessment of XIAGC's security work. They had high praise for the work that XIAGC had done on security, specially for the security check computer system network solely developed by XIAGC.
On June 28, the third session of the Labor Union and Staff Representatives of XIAGC was held. The representatives of the new session are highly qualified with respect to knowledge, age and specialty.
On July 24, the sixth session of the Communist Youth League of XIAGC was held. The work report of the League Committee of the fifth session was examined and approved, and the League Committee of the sixth session was also elected.
On August 8, the Passenger and Cargo Agent of XIAGC and Xiamen Mobile Telecommunication Company jointly provided the Easy Boarding Service for GoTone Platinum Members. The service has been well received by consumers.
On August 19, the XIAGC Staff Manual, the first of its kind, was formally issued. This accomplishment indicates that the corporate culture of XIAGC has entered a new heightened stage of ideals dissemination.
On August 19, the brand-new website of XIAGC was open to the public. It features an easy window for the public to get the latest information of XIAGC and a "chat room" for XIAGC staff to exchange views and opinions.
From August 27 to September 9, an emergency rescue operation drill, aimed at improving the ability of handling emergency rescue, was smoothly carried out at Xiamen Airport in three sections.
On October 29, Thai Airways opened the Xiamen-Bangkok route with 3 flights weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday respectively.
2001
On May 8, the all-freighter Xiamen-Nagoya flight was inaugurated. China Cargo Airlines operated the flight with MD-11 aircraft owned by China Eastern Airlines.
On August 16, the foundation was laid for a new cargo terminal jointly invested in by Xiamen International Airport Group and Taiwan Airport Service(Macau) Co., Ltd. It was the first investment project of the Taiwan Aviation Circle in mainland China.
2000
At 0:00 local time on January 15, the 3400-meter runway which was included in Xiamen Airport's second-phase extension project was formally put into use with the approval of CAAC. Every specification and index had reached the designed standard of Code 4E airport to ensure that fully loaded Boeing 747-400 jumbo jet, the hugest aircraft in the world, could safely take off and land.
On February 4, the Xiamen-Bangkok route was inaugurated.
On March 28, Xiamen Airlines opened the Wuyishan-Macau charter flight service.
On April 28, the second-phase extension project of Xiamen Airport smoothly passed the completion inspection and was granted acceptance by the State.
On June 27, Taiwan China Airlines invested USD 3.4 million in the Xiamen Airport with the approval of the Taiwan Authorities.
1999
On February 26, Xiamen GE Engine Service Company was registered and established, which is a joint venture of American GE Engine Group, Xiamen Aviation Industry Company and Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Co., Ltd.
On April 21, TAECO (Xiamen) held the opening ceremony of its second-phase hangar.
In June, Xiamen International Airport Group won first prize in the "1996-1998 Passenger Survey" for 3 consecutive years, organized by the China Civil Aviation Association Customer Working Committee.
On June 20, the Xiamen-Jiujiang-Fuyang route was inaugurated.
On June 22, for the first time, loaded B747 aircraft, the total weight of which reached 252 tons including 95-ton machines and equipment, took off and landed at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport.
In September, Xiamen International Airport Group was granted the National Advanced Unit in Establishing Civilized Industry award by the China Central Civilization Commission.
On September 28, the Xiamen Airport Cargo Integrated Inspection and Custom Declaration Center was put into use.
On November 1, Malaysia Airlines opened the Xiamen-Kuala Lumpur route using a Boeing 737-400.
On December 10, the extended 3400-meter runway at Xiamen Airport witnessed a successful trial flight.

On February 12, Xiamen Gaoqi International was granted the title of "National Enlightened Airport" by CAAC.
On April 21, American and China Shanxi Qinling Aero Electric Corporation jointly invested and established Xiamen Shenglan Qinling in the Xiamen Aviation Industrial Zone.
On July 9, Xiamen International Airport Group was approved as an assets operation integration enterprise by Xiamen Municipality.
On July 15, Xiamen Airport initially self-organized a jumbo freighter to serve the international cargo transport business from Xiamen to Tokyo (MD-11 as the carrier and MU5714 as the flight number) .
On July 20, the Xiamen-Osaka route was inaugurated by ANA, using a Boeing 767-300 jet.
In November, the Air Traffic Control Station installed and put into use the NOMARC-7000 times blind landing system introduced from Norway.
1997
On April 23, Xiamen International Airport Group and Xiamen Gaoqi Immigration Station signed an agreement on the Enlightened Airport Establishment Campaign Joined by Policemen and Citizens.
On May 20, the Xiamen-Nanjing-Jinzhou route was inaugurated.
On June 23, Xiamen Airport was enrolled as a regular member of the Airport Council International (ACI) at the World Governing Board meeting held in Paris.
On July 10, Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport won first prize in the "1996 Civil Aviation in Passengers' Eyes Evaluation".
On July 23, Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport was granted "the First National Excellent Service Award" by CAAC.

On March 1, Air Macau opened the Macau-Xiamen route with an A-321 airplane.
On March 26, Taikoo(Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Co., Ltd welcomed the first aircraft to come to its hangar for maintenance.
On April 3, the Xiamen-Nanning route was opened.
On April 4, the Xiamen-Anqing route was opened.
On April 4, Xiamen International Airport Group won the Best Ground Service Provider award in the 1995 CAAC Service Upgrading Campaign

On May 16, Xiamen Airport Development Company, the first listed company in aviation circle national wide, held its first shareholders' conference at Xiamen Hotel at which the Corporate Charter was approved and the first board of directors and the first board of supervisors were elected by secret ballot. Members of the board of directors are Wang Titang, Wang Zeyuan, Wang Yanfei, Qian Jinqun, Wang Jiacheng, Shao Deyi and Chen Bin. Members of the board of supervisors are Zhang Lianfu, Nie Xinjie, Wang Xinzhong, Lin Wenjie and Su Yongning.
On May 31, Xiamen Airport Development Co., Ltd was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

On January 13, the Fujian Provincial Government decided to transfer the administration of Fujian Airlines to Xiamen Airlines.
On February 3, the Xiamen-Wuyishan route was inaugurated.

On May 4, the agreement on jointly setting up an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering major was signed between Xiamen University and TAECO(Xiamen). 40 freshmen were enrolled by Xiamen University in September.
On June 7, the extension project of Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport Oil Depot of China Aviation Oil Company was completed and accepted after examination. It was formally put into service and fully opened the oil supply.
On June 19, the Fujian Provincial Government appointed Wu Rongnan to be General Manager of Fujian Airlines.
On September 8, the Xiamen Aviation Industry Company was established. Jia Qinglin, the General Secretary of Fujian Provincial Party Committee and leaders from the provincial and municipal governments unveiled a plaque commemorating its establishment.

On September 6, the Xiamen-Harbin route was inaugurated.
On October 22, under the approval of the State Council, Xiamen Airport was transferred to the local government for operation and administration as a test unit. Deputy Director General of CAAC Guan De and Deputy Governor of Fujian Province Shi Xingmou signed an agreement on behalf of the two parties that marked the dissolution of the Xiamen Station of China Civil Aviation. At the same time, Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport was established and run by the Xiamen Municipal Government. The Civil Aviation Xiamen Air Control Station and Civil Aviation Xiamen Oil Supply Station were also established and are still run by CAAC.
On November 14, the Xiamen-Ninbo route was inaugurated.

On September 27, the Oil Depot of Xiamen Station of China Civil Aviation was established.

In March, Xiamen Station of China Civil Aviation was established.
On October 22, Xiamen International Airport officially opened to the public. The air route between Xiamen and Shanghai was inaugurated.

After the the last plane took off from Xiamen Gaoqi Airport to Taipei on August 24, the aviation business in Xiamen came to a halt.

After China Airlines, co-established by China and the U.S, set up its office in Xiamen in July, many airlines started operating air transport from Xiamen to various destinations.

On November 12, British airwoman Mrs. Bruise piloted an airplane to Xiamen from Hongkong and landed at Zen Cu An Navy Airport.

In January, Zhangxia Navy Headquarters established the Navy Aviation Office in Xiamen and a Navy Airport at Zeng Cu An on the outskirts of Xiamen.
On May 12, aeroplanist Chen Wenlin piloted a biplane named "Xiamen" purchased in Germany, landind it at Xiamen's Zen Cu An Navy Airport.

In August, Wutong Civil Aviation School was established. It was one of three aviation schools in China in the 1920's.
